1936 MORRIS EIGHT SERIES 1

The Morris Eight was announced to the British motoring public in 1935 replacing the old Morris Minor. The Morris Eight was inspired by the Ford Motor Company's very successful  'Y' model. It was available in saloon, tourer and van versions. The standard specification included full instrumentation, hydraulically operated brakes, which were far superior to the Austin Seven's cable system and it's electric windscreen wipers put the vacuum operated version on the Ford 'Y' model to shame.

The very smart and rare 4 door Series one version we offer here has obviously been subject to an earlier comprehensive restoration, judging by the standard of the paintwork and interior trim. We are also reliably informed by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt a few years ago.We always find that the Morris Eight is far more driver friendly than the Austin 7.The car comes with flashing indicators working in unison with the original semaphore arms. The Eight also benefits from an opening windscreen and working sliding sun roof.

Part exchange welcome, ancient and modern, funds either way.
