Announced at the 1962 Earls Court Motor Show, the MGB replaced the MGA and became a best seller.Built on a monocoque chassis/body and powered by the B series 1800cc engine. the car came with a 4 speed gearbox and optional overdrive.The MGB was initially offered in open 2 seater form and later joined by a closed GT version. The MGB is without doubt one of the most popular 2 seater sports cars of it's era, practical,economical and now enjoying a large following in the Classic Car fraternity.
The early 'narrow tunnel' version we offer here has only covered 3000 miles since a total rebuild. The car is one of the most highly speced MGBs we have had the pleasure of handling, here are the salient items.
The car is fitted eith the later 5 bearing engine with a Peter Burgess econtune cylinder head and bored out to 1865cc.At the time of the rebuild the engine was treated to a Piper performance camshaft,new pistons, new distributor with electronic ignition, alloy rocker cover , K &N air filters, high torque stater motor,Kenlowe fan and oil cooler.
A 'Type 9' 5 speed gearbox transmits the power.
Converted to negative earth with a single 12 volt battery with an isolation switch.
In the suspension department we have 3/4 inch front anti roll bar,polybused and new drop links.
Works type hardtop, soft top and tonneau cover.
The car rides on a set of new knock on alloy wheels and new tyres..
New fuel tank and fuel pump.
New seats and seat belts.
Ready to use this coming summer.
