The brainchild of Herbert Austin, the Austin Seven was responsible for helping motorise the British public. The baby Austin was brilliantly yet simply engineered.Based on an A framed chassis with all round leaf sprung suspension and four wheel drum brakes.Powered by a 747cc side valve engine driving through a 3 speed gearbox. Introduced in 1934 the Ruby Saloon was designed to rejuvinate the Seven.Distinguised by a smooth radiator cowling and curved rear incorporating the spare wheel cover, the Ruby combined modern styling with 50 mph performance. a great sales success, the Ruby remained a staple part of the Seven range until production ceased in 1939.
First registered in Brighton in July 1937 this charming Austin Ruby has covered about 700 miles since a complete nut and bolt restoration completed in 2010 and included a new ash frame, rebuilt engine and a new interior. The extensive history file contains invoices totaling well in excess of £25,000.
