Bill Postins Motor Trade career spans over 50 years, commencing in the late 50s training with the Kenning Motor Group. A major player at the time in the British Motor Corporation's dealer network. Bill Postins actually sold the very first MGB in Warwickshire.
He then progressed to a local Dealership selling Jaguar, Ford and Renault motor vehicles.
10 years later, partned by his wife Joan, started their own business. ‘Chorlton House Motor Company’ was started from a room at their home. They progressed over time to owning four different sites over a period of 25 years, culminating in an appointment as a Franchised Suzuki Dealer for Central Warwickshire in 1986.
In 1992 we thought it was time for a slightly slower pace of life and sold the Suzuki dealership site. Over the next few years we specialised in the wholesale of 4x4 vehicles.
A business colleague then suggested to Bill that he should look at the Classic car market,something that had always been of interest, after all his friend said ‘you sold them new!’ His advice was taken and Bill using all his experience and contacts has slowly built up a stock of pristine Classic cars, mainly with a sporting bias.
As so often happens with true petrol heads, Bill from a very early age, thanks to his Father, discovered a love of Motor Sport. This love has also been passed to his 2 sons, Richard and Charlie and indeed his daughter Isobel. Both boys have had, and are having, great success in ,amongst other machinery, a Classic Austin A40 Farina,an entrant in the 2008 St Mary’s Trophy at the Goodwood Revival Meeting.

Bill competed in many forms of Motor Sport, but mainly in Circuit Racing, his first event being a straight line sprint in his Father’s Vauxhall Cresta in 1961. Progressing through the 60’s in a Lotus 6 and racing a variety of Minis and Mini Coopers. Then Ford Escort Mexico’s and Classic saloons, and the odd Suzuki in the 70s.The highlight probably doing the European Saloon championship in VW Siroccos in the early 80s. Racing at such circuits as Monza, Nurburgring, Zolder and Zandvoort: achieving a number of class wins.
All this being crowned with an invitation to join the prestigious British Racing Drivers Club, owners of the world famous Silverstone Racing circuit, in 1985.Which makes Bill, in effect, a shareholder of the circuit, but please don’t blame him for the loss of the British Grand Prix. (Watch this space!!).
So you could say that when discussing your Classic car purchase with Bill, you are talking to someone who has a ‘something of a grasp of his subject’.
