1933 AUSTIN 12/6

In the early1930s the Austin Motor Company launched the Austin 12/6 as an evolution of the successful Austin 12/4. Powered by a the bigger 6 cylinder engine while keeping the practicality and reiability that had made Austins a household name. It was positioned as a mid-sized family and business car appealing to motorists who wanted a step up in refinement without a significant increase in cost. The 12/6 was powered by a 1500cc 6 cylinder  and later on a larger 1700cc version. Today the Austin 12/6 is regarded as a classic pre war British car, appreciated for its smooth engine, solid build quality and period charm.

This quite superb 1700cc example we offer here was first registered in Suffolk on the 30th of June 1933. The car had just one family owner for the first 30 years of its life. The ownership then passed onto a gentleman from Lowestoft who then owned the car for next 45 years. During his ownership the car was restored in the noughties. In 2009 the ownership passed on to the last owner who was an automotive engineer. We have an extensive history file with the car which conatains a pictorial record of the restoration plus the car's original buff log book and older MOT certificates.
