|
The MG Magnette ZA was on launched onto the British home market in 1953. Featuring monocoque construction for the first time on an MG saloon. The Magnette also featured rack and pinnion steering, independent front suspension. The car was designed by Gerald Palmer of Jowett Javelin fame. The MG saloon was powered by the BMC 1500 CC B series twin SU carburetor engine mounted to a 4 speed gearbox. The sporting exterior good looks continued inside the cabin with leather trim polished wooden dash and a heater as standard equipment. The Abingdon MG plant produced 36.600 eaamples between 1953 and 1958.
The remarkably straight example we offer here was first registered in March 1955 and is an early metal dash version. The car has covered just 5000 miles since the car was restored at great expense in the mid 90s by a gentleman in devon where the car has lived ever since. The car has had just 5 owners since 1977. The car comes with a comprehensive history file which contains written evidence of the car's restoration, many service and parts invoices plus most MOTs going back to 1979. Finished in dark grey with red leather trim.
